Those who were accepted in the beta will receive it soon

Sony announced back in August it would kick off a beta program where Xperia X Performance users would be able to test Android 7.0 Nougat and provide feedback. Those who enlisted for the beta program one month later were informed that they would receive emails that would let them know if they were accepted in the beta.

Now, reports claim that Sony is about to push the first Android 7.0 Nougat beta build to those beta testers that use an Xperia X Performance as their daily driver.

According to XperiaBlog, Sony has already started to send emails that confirm the Nougat beta build will be rolled out OTA (over the air) in the next two days.

Sony also states in the email that it will send more information about the update process and the first Xperia Beta software in another email. We're also expecting the email to contain a few details about the changes the update is supposed to bring to the Xperia X Performance.

However, it's unlikely that Sony will operate any major changes besides the ones that Nougat brings, but we expect some visual improvements to its UI.

One other thing that's worth mentioning is that the Android 7.0 Nougat beta to be released shortly is only compatible with the Xperia X Performance model number F8131, so don't try to flash it on another smartphone.

The beta program for Android 7.0 Nougat is not available worldwide, but it's been confirmed for the following countries: Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Iceland, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Netherlands, and a few Nordic regions.

The Xperia X Performance won't be the only smartphone Sony will update to Android 7.0 Nougat, but it will surely be among the first to receive the upgrade.

Will this update be rolled out to the general public by the time Sony's next flagship gets announced? We sincerely hope so.
