Sony is expected to attend MWC 2017, as the company recently started sending out invites for a press conference on February 27, the first day of the event. According to a recent report, Sony might announce five new Xperia models during the MWC.

Sony might be the smartphone maker that announces the most devices during MWC, as the company is said to unveil five new phones in the Xperia line. Specs are also important and a report from Review.ge reveals that Sony’s flagship will run Snapdragon 835. Take this information with a grain of salt, though, as nothing is confirmed until the phones are actually announced.

The report mentioned the codenames for the new phones, but the actual retail names weren’t revealed. Sony's flagship smartphone is codenamed Yoshino and is said to have a 5.5-inch 4K display with a pixel resolution of 3840 x 2160.

It could run the Snapdragon 835 SoC, which would mean that it will be made available for purchase only after the Galaxy S8 is launched. It might also incorporate the new Sony IMX400 image sensor and 4GB or 6GB of LPDRR4 RAM.

Sony will announce mid-range and premium phones

Sony BlancBright will be a premium smartphone with a 5.5-inch display, Quad HD resolution and 4GB of RAM. It might run Snapdragon 835 or Snapdragon 653, although the latter is more likely. The phone could incorporate Sony IMX400 camera sensor as well.

Sony Keyaki (zelkova) is said to be a mid-range phone with a 5.2-inch Full HD display, 4GB of RAM and MediaTek Helio P20 chipset. It is rumored to come with 64GB of internal storage, a 23MP rear camera, and 16MP front selfie snapper.

Sony Hinoki (cypress) is one of the low-end phones to be announced at the event and it’s said to come with a 5-inch HD display, MediaTek Helio P20 SoC and 3GB of RAM. Internal storage might reach 32GB, while the device could have a 16MP camera in the back and 8MP camera in the front. Specs for the last rumored phone are quite unknown, but the report reveals that Sony Mineo could be priced at $350.
