Sony fans will be disappointed to hear that the Japanese handset maker has decided to halt the Android 7.0 Nougat rollout to all its Xperia devices.

Earlier this week, Sony started to seed the Android 7.0 Nougat update to all Xperia Z5 family devices. A few days later, two other smartphones received the same update: Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z3+ Dual.

Yesterday, the Xperia Z4 Tablet was supposed to receive the OS update, but we're not sure how many owners managed to capture it since Sony pulled the Android 7.0 Nougat build from its servers.

The folks over at XperiaBlog report that many users claim the update is not stored on Sony's servers, as it should.

Well, it looks like these reports were true after all, as Sony confirmed it had to halt the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat due to some unforeseen issues.

Apparently, some users have been affected by audio issues, but some problems with the SD card encrypted data read performance seem to afflict those Xperia devices that have been upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. You can read below Sony's short statement related to these issues:

We were made aware of reports from some users experiencing inconsistencies related to audio playback via third-party apps and SD card encrypted data read performance, after upgrading to Android 7.0, Nougat. We’ve identified the root cause and are aiming to provide corrective firmware and re-commence the rollout as soon as possible.”

So, the statement contains some good news as well. Sony is already working to fix these bugs reported by users, which means the deployment could be resumed very soon.

Sadly, Sony is not the only handset maker that had to temporarily put the Android 7.0 Nougat update on hold. Samsung did a similar thing not long ago. Let's hope the issues will be fixed so Xperia users can enjoy the benefits of Android 7.0 Nougat as quickly as possible.
