After a few weeks of beta testing, Sony Mobile has decided that Android 7.0 Nougat is ready for prime time. The first smartphone launched by the Japanese company that receives the long-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update is the Xperia X Performance.

New reports coming from those who haven't been part of the beta trial confirm the Xperia X Performance is indeed getting Android 7.0 Nougat.

However, before getting too excited, it's worth noting that the update is only available for the unlocked U.S. version of the Xperia X Performance, also known as F8131.

Some have even received the update on the dual-SIM global version of the smartphone, which goes by the codename F8132, so if you have either of these two models, it's worth checking if the update is available or not.

If you're not in the first wave of Xperia X Performance users who are about to receive Android 7.0 Nougat, here are a couple of things that you will be getting once the update reaches your phone.

First of all, Android 7.0 Nougat adds split-screen support, so you can work in two apps at the same time and seamlessly switch between them right from the screen.

Also, Sony will bring an improved version of the Stamina mode for an even better optimization of the battery consumption. The camera on the Xperia X Performance will receive some tweaks and improvements too, so expect it to be able to capture better pictures after upgrading to Nougat.

There are many other new features and enhancements brought by Android 7.0 Nougat, including on the security side, so make sure you upgrade as soon as the update shows up on your phone.

If you haven't been notified about its availability, you can manually check for the update by heading to Settings / About device / Software updates.
