A few days ago, Sony posted official images of the Xperia E5 on company's social networking accounts, while the release date was rumored to be June 5. It seems that Sony has decided to release the smartphone today and has made it available on its website.

The Sony Xperia E5 comes with a lower price and lesser specs compared to the highly successful Xperia X and Xperia Z5.

The Xperia E5 has a 5-inch display with only 720p resolution, but it compensates in the camera department. Rear camera capacity reaches 13MP, with auto-focus, HDR, flash, and a 3-time zoom. It also comes with a 5MP selfie snapper with front flash.

The smartphone has a quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor, but only 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory. Considering the small memory on the phone, Sony has added a microSD slot for additional 200GB of space.

The Xperia E5 weighs 147g and measures 144 x 69 x 8.2 mm. It runs Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box, but Sony hasn’t mentioned when and if it plans to provide an upgrade to Android N when Google releases it later this year.

Xperia E5 comes with a 2,700mAh battery and will be sold for $112

It also has NFC and 4G connectivity, alongside a 2,700mAh battery, which Sony states should keep the phone’s lights on for up to 2 days, but that also depends on the usability.

It also comes with optional Dual-SIM support and with Sony’s Smart Cleaner feature for emptying cache data. The feature is also available on the Xperia X phone.

Sony Xperia E5 is available in two color variants, black and white. Sony hasn’t provided any details on the smartphone’s release date or availability, but the device should hit the market in the following weeks. In addition, Sony’s Xperia E5 is expected to cost $112 (€199) upon release.
