14 DAY TRIAL // Sony announced a number of exciting new smartphones during MWC 2017 and it seems that the company has just introduced a new and affordable phone, under the name of Xperia L1. The device features a clean and sleek design, but its specs leave much to be desired.
Xperia L1 features the classic Sony design, with sharp edges at the top and bottom, as well as large bezels. The phone’s sides are slightly curved, showing a more polished and smooth design compared to the Xperia L phone that Sony introduced back in 2013.
The new smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch display with 720p resolution and measures 151 x 74 x 8.7 mm, while it has a weight of 180grams. It’s not exactly among the slimmest or lightest phones on the market, but it’s not a high-end device either.
2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage
Xperia L1 fails to impress when it comes to internal components. It runs a quad-core MediaTek 64-bit processor clocked at 1.45GHz, together with 2GB of RAM and just 16GB of internal memory, which can be expanded to 256GB using a microSD card.
The phone draws power from a 2,620mAh battery, featuring Qnovo adaptive charging and STAMINA mode from Sony. Moreover, it has a 5MP camera in the front with 24mm wide-angle lens and f/2.2 aperture. Rear camera capacity reaches 13MP with autofocus features, 3x clear image zoom and the same aperture as the front one.
Xperia L1 runs Android Nougat with features for automatically adjusting various settings like ringtone volume, brightness, notifications, and more. When it comes to connectivity options, the new Xperia phone has NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, and a USB Type-C port.
Sony revealed availability of the Xperia L1, but pricing information isn’t available. The company only states that the phone will have an affordable price and that it will arrive in late April in select markets, like Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
