The smartphones were announced during IFA 2016

Sony has been rumored to announce two smartphones during IFA 2016, and it seems that these exciting handsets have arrived. The Xperia XZ is the company’s new flagships while the Xperia X Compact isn’t far behind with its premium specs.

Sony’s first flagship in the X series is the Xperia XZ, the successor to the Xperia X with some components similar to the Xperia X Performance. The smartphone focuses on important features, like design, performance, camera, and battery life.

The Xperia XZ comes with a water-resistant design and a metal back. Aside from this, Xperia XZ is covered in a trademarked material called ALKALEIDO, which is basically smudge-resistant aluminum. The smartphone also introduces a brand new color to the series, Forest Blue. It’s available in two other colors, Mineral Black and Platinum.

Xperia XZ comes with a 23MP rear camera with Sony G Lens

Xperia XZ comes with a Full HD 1080p display with Dynamic Contrast Enhancement and measures 146 x 72 x 8.1mm and weighs 161 grams. The smartphone carries a powerful rear camera of 23MP, with triple image sensing technology, fast capture, f/2.3 aperture, and predictive hybrid autofocus.

It’s capable of recording 4k video and comes with 24mm wide Sony G Lens. Front camera capacity reaches 13MP with f/2.0 aperture and 22mm wide-angle lens. The handset packs a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and has 3GB of RAM, together with 64GB of internal memory and the option to add up to 256GB using a microSD card.

Battery capacity reaches 2,900mAh with Quick Charge, and it comes with a fingerprint scanner and has USB Type-C ports. The phone will launch in early October and could have a price tag higher than €700.

Xperia X Compact will be available in September

Xperia X Compact has some specs similar to the Xperia XZ but sports a smaller display of 4.6 inches with 720p resolution and measures 129 x 65 x 9.5mm, while weighing 135 grams.

It runs a 64-bit Snapdragon 650 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory that can be expanded to 256GB. Aside from this, the phone's battery capacity reaches 2,700mAh with Quick Charge, and it comes with a 23MP rear camera with 24mm wide Sony G Lens, f/2.3 aperture, and 1080 video recording.

Front camera capacity reaches 5MP with f/2.0 aperture and 22mm wide lens. The smartphone is said to launch this month, and the price could reach €500.
