Sony and ZMP work on flying "robots of everything"

Sony has decided to go full robotics and paired up with ZMP, which literally has its logo called "Robot of Everything," to start building drones, because you know, it's a fashionable thing these days.

ZMP already has advanced experience in developing robotics and automated driving technologies, although not much has been moving in this direction for a while. However, once Sony caught the opportunity, they managed to work on a project called Aerosense, which will be launched next month.

Apparently, the collaboration between the two companies will see Sony binding its camera sensor and communication tech on ZMP's automated driving and robotics technologies. Although Sony has claimed a share majority by a very thin margin, the company will let the project's development in ZMP's hands, not even bothering to brand the drones with the Sony logo.

This is not an ordinary consumer-oriented product, hence the lack of logo, but it will most likely be targeted at corporate or business clients that need "measuring, surveying, observing, and inspecting" things.

As it turns out, the collaborative effort will also focus on the Internet of Things and will store all the data involved in cloud storage facilities.

It's impressive how much Sony can invest in innovative technologies and trends back at home in Japan, especially when it isn't doing so well financially abroad.

First Flight, Sony's own "Kickstarter," actually encourages consumers to have Sony build useful and interesting gadgets for everyday use on the same pledge system as the famous crowdfunding website.
