Recent rumors say that Sony might unveil two new smartphones during next month’s Mobile World Congress, as it didn’t announce any new phones during the CES event that has just passed. One of the two smartphones is Sony G3221.

The new Sony phone was recently spotted on AnTuTu benchmark, according to TechUpdates. The phone appears to run a Helio P20 (MT6757) processor coupled with Mali-T880 graphics processing unit. RAM capacity would reach 4GB, complemented by 64GB of internal storage.

This confirms previous reports which have shown that the Sony G3221 phone will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 CPU clocked at 2.5GHz. Helio P20 is built on a 16nm process node and manages to offer 25% increased power efficiency, higher processing speed and more advanced camera/video features, compared to its predecessor, the Helio P10. MediaTek introduced the Helio P20 CPU during MWC last year. Xiaomi Mi5c is one of the phones that uses this chipset model.

Sony G3221 might have a 23MP camera on the back

The AnTuTu listing also reveals that the phone might be equipped with a very powerful 23MP rear camera and a 16MP front snapper for conducting video calls and taking selfies. Moreover, the phone appears to run Android 7.0 Nougat, making it the first Sony smartphone to ship with Nougat out of the box. The device might also have a Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display, slightly larger than 5.5 inches.

This won’t be the only phone that Sony might announce during next month’s event. Sony G3112 was also spotted recently in a UAProf document. The phone appears to run the same Helio P20 processor, but might have a different display resolution.

The device will be a rather low-end one with a 720p display. More information will surely surface before the MWC event, which is set to start on February 27 in Barcelona and to end on March 2.
