The Xperia M4 Aqua is a relatively new mid-range Android smartphone, so it would make sense for Sony to provide owners with an upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Those who already own the smartphone know that the Xperia M4 Aqua comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

Even though some smartphones that shipped with the same version of the OS received Android 5.1 Lollipop before getting the Marshmallow upgrade, this will not be the case with Xperia M4 Aqua.

Sony has just confirmed that Xperia M4 Aqua will not receive Android 5.1 Lollipop, instead, the Japanese company will provide an upgrade directly to Marshmallow.

Unfortunately, no timeframe has been given for the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Xperia M4 Aqua though we believe it will take the Japanese company some time to make the upgrade available.

Sony has recently kicked off the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Xperia Z5 family, so it will take some time until other mid-range smartphones receive the update.

If you plan on getting the Xperia M4 Aqua after this announcement, you might want to know that the smartphone rocks a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, paired with an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Depending on the market, you might be able to get the 8GB or 16GB version, but both come with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features scratch-resistant glass.

As the name suggests, the smartphone features IP68 certification, which makes it dust and waterproof up to 1.5 meters and 30 minutes.

Last but not least, a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash located on the back side, along with a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera in the front.
