Sony is expected to unveil up to five Xperia smartphones during MWC 2017,  and the company has already sent out invites to its press conference on February 27. Information about expected Sony smartphones has surfaced online, the latest pointing to a new phone codenamed Pikachu.

Sony Pikachu was recently spotted on GFXBench (via GSMArena) and some of the phone’s specs were revealed. Sony’s device appears to come with a MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 SoC with an octa-core 2.3GHz processor and a 5-inch HD display. It could also feature a Mali-T880 MP2 graphics processing unit.

Its RAM capacity might reach 3GB, while internal memory appears to be 32GB. The main highlight of this new phone will be the 21MP rear camera, with an 8MP front shooter. The smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and will feature multiple connectivity options, like GPS and NFC.

Sony Pikachu might be the G3112 spotted recently

Last month, we reported that two UAProf documents revealed that Sony was working on a new phone carrying the code number G3112. The Pikachu might actually be the G3112 considering that it had a 720p display and ran a MediaTek Helio P20 MT6757 octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz.

Nonetheless, Sony is expected to unveil multiple smartphones during MWC 2017, including a successor to the Xperia XZ, which is rumored to come with 4GB of RAM and possibly run a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, just not the SD835.

The company will also unveil a few mid and low-end smartphones, one of which is codenamed Keyaki and might have a 5.2-inch Full HD display, 4GB of RAM and a MediaTek Helio P20 chipset, together with 64GB of internal memory and a 23MP rear camera. It remains to be seen what Sony will present during its press conference on February 27, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but one thing is for sure, the company will announce a full range of smartphones, including premium ones.
