The Google accounts integration has been finally fixed

Solus Project's Joshua Strobl is reporting today in a new installation of the This Week In Solus (TWiS) newsletter on the latest work done by him and project leader Ikey Doherty for their beloved and very popular Solus operating system.

Last week - like many others before it - was extremely busy for the development team behind Solus, an independently-developed GNU/Linux distribution. The team finally managed to migrate the project's Git repositories and patch management system to the Diffusion and Differential apps of their Phabricator dev tracker tool.

This move has many implications for the ever-growing community and package maintainers, and you can read all about it in This Week In Solus Install #44, which brings many other good news for the regular Solus user as scanning and Bluetooth A2DP audio support has been greatly improved thanks to donators and patrons.

WebKitGTK+ 2.16.2 was released the other day with updated user agents quirks to make YouTube and Google's new login page work properly again, so Solus' Google accounts integration is also functional now. Support for some popular scanners and printers was also improved, especially for Epson owners.

New website, numerous updated packages

As you've probably already noticed, Solus Project's official website has a new look, thanks to Joshua Strobl's hard work in the past few months, which should help newcomers better discover the powerful features of the Linux-based operating system, its multitude of editions, and the latest announcements.

Lastly, a bunch of new packages made their way into the Solus repositories, including Beets 1.4.3, Luminance HDR 2.5.0, Screenkey 0.9, Plotinus 0.2, Plano Theme 3.22, Slop 5.3.37, python-setuptools-git 1.2 and perl-dbd-sqlite 1.54, and numerous existing packages have been updated to their latest versions.

Therefore, if you're using Solus as your daily driver, we recommend that you fire up the built-in graphical package manager or your favorite terminal emulator and update your installations as soon as possible to receive all the goodies mentioned above. And remember, always keep your operating systems up to date with the latest patches and improvements.
