14 DAY TRIAL // We bet that, by now, you all know that Solus is a rolling release operating system, right? But even rolling OSes get new, updated ISO images (installation mediums) from time to time for those who want to install the distro for the first time, or reinstall, right?
Right! Well, the last Solus ISO release, version 1.2.0.5, was published on September 7, 2016, and it did not disappoint. The ISO image shipped with dozens of new packages, an updated GNOME 3.20 Stack, the latest stable Linux 4.7.2 kernel, GCC 6.1.0, and a much-improved Budgie desktop environment.
But, let's face it, we're all waiting for Solus 1.2.1, to ditch our current Linux-based operating system and migrate to the wonderful world of Solus where you'll get the latest software releases and GNU/Linux technologies faster than any other distro. Why? Simply because it introduces the long anticipated full-disk encryption support.
Solus 1.2.1 with full-disk encryption is a dream come true for many
As usual, we had a quick talk earlier today, October 11, 2016, with Solus Project leader Ikey Doherty, who exclusively reveals for Softpedia that the final release of the Solus 1.2.1 is very very close to becoming a dream come true for those who have waited for full-disk encryption to land before switching to Solus as their daily driver.
That being said, we can't wait for the Solus 1.2.1 ISO to be officially released, to finally move to Solus as our main operating system and enjoy that excellent full-disk encryption, LVM2, Linux Steam Integration, Linux System Driver Management, full I-BUS support in Budgie, and all those special tweaks/tools that make our lives better.
