14 DAY TRIAL // Josh Strobl from the Solus Project published earlier today, April 24, 2016, the twenty-seventh installment of the weekly "This Week In Solus" newsletter to inform the community about the latest news from the Solus OS land.
This week's newsletter reminds us that the second point release of the GNU/Linux operating system, Solus 1.2, is coming next month, in May, with multilib support, updated packages, and latest security patches.
"Let’s be blunt here. We all know 1.2 is coming. We’ve said it is coming, our release schedule shows it is coming, and we’re currently entering what we consider a “stabilization phase” for next month’s release," said Josh Strobl.
However, Solus 1.2 is a rolling operating system, so the May ISO images will be made available mostly for people who want to deploy the OS on new computers, as existing users need only to make sure all the latest updates are installed.
Josh Strobl also took the time to create a video that teaches those who want to contribute to Solus Linux how to package software projects for the operating system so make sure you watch the video attached at the end of the article if you're interested.
Moreover, Solus users who are experiencing glitches with the fonts due to an issue with the Intel graphics driver, should make sure they have all the latest updates applied, do a system reboot, and monitor the OS to see if it still happens, as DRI3 has been temporarily disabled in the driver. There's also better support for Windows dual booting.

Solus OS always has the latest Linux kernel 4.4 LTS packages, so it was natural to receive the new point release, Linux 4.4.8, announced by renowned kernel developer Greg Kroah-Hartman a couple of days ago.
As for the updated packages, we can mention aria2 1.22.0, Atom 1.7.2, lollypop 0.9.98, Mercurial 3.7.3, Adapta GTK theme 3.20.3.56, Evolution 3.18.5.2, LibreCAD 2.0.10, Mesa 11.2.1 3D Graphics Library, Telegram Desktop 0.9.44, Tilda 1.3.3, and X.Org Server 1.18.3.
Additionally, the Node.js 5.11.0, AMDGPU (xorg-driver-video-amdgpu) 1.1.0, xorg-driver-video-vesa 2.3.4, GNU Gzip 1.7, cups-filter 1.4.0, OptiPNG 0.7.6, and MOC (Music on Console) 2.5.1 packages also landed in the repos, so please update as soon as possible.
