Two-factor authentication has been rolled out too

One of the most popular Android applications with nearly 500 million downloads on Google Play Store, and probably just as many on iOS, has just received a small but very important update that changes the way users watch Snaps and add friends.

After delivering two-factor authentication last month in order to improve the application's security, Snapchat developers announced a new update dubbed “Tap to View.”

With the new Tap to View feature, Snapchat users will no longer have to press and hold the screen to view a Snap or a Story, instead they will be able to use this new ability.

According to developers, “this means no more tired thumbs while watching a several-hundred-second Story… and a little getting used to for anyone who has been Snapchatting for a while. We think you’re going to love it!”

But these are not the only changes included in this update. The team behind Snapchat also added some new ways that users can make friends, including Add Nearby.

The Add Nearby option is a quick way to add a group of friends. It's especially useful when your friends are all hanging out together.

As soon as you open the Add Nearby option, you will be able to see a list of your friends will appear on the screen, so you will only need to tap to add.

Snapcodes got improved

Also, developers confirmed Snapcode have received a serious upgrade. This means that you will now be able to add a selfie to the center of the Snapcode, so it will be easier for friends to recognize you when you add them on Snapchat.

Last but not least, Snapchat users will now be able to add screenshotted Snapcodes through Add Friends, so if you see a Snapcode in another app simply take a screenshot of it.

If you don't have the application yet, you can now download Snapchat for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.

For iOS users, Snapchat is free to download via App Store. The application should work smoothly on all devices running iOS 7.0 or later.
