Specter is no longer available for download on WP

Snapchat doesn’t have an official client on Windows Phone and third-party apps have one by one been removed, and it appears that Specter is having the same fate.

Specter is one of the most recent Snapchat clients for Windows Phone, and although it actually survived in the store for a couple of months, Snapchat seems to have actually forced the removal of the app. As a result, the program is no longer up for grabs from the store, so if you’re on Windows Phone, once again you have no way to connect to Snapchat.

Posts on reddit confirm that the app got removed sometime this week from the store, but what’s worse, it appears that some users were also banned when trying to connect to Snapchat with Specter.

“I bought it. It never really worked. Then yesterday, I logged in and got a 'polite' little message from Snapchat about being banned for life. At this point I couldn't care less about Snapchat. If this is how they treat potential customers, then I can live without sending funny pictures,” one user explained.

“Snapchat’s CEO hates Microsoft”

This isn’t the first time Specter disappears from the store, as the app has previously been removed too, but it always returned with an update. And yet, seeing third-party Snapchat clients banned from the store is not really surprising, as the company’s CEO isn’t quite the biggest fan of Microsoft.

Rudy Huyn, one of the most popular devs on Windows Phone (and who also attempted to build a Snapchat client for the platform) explained that Snapchat’s CEO actually hates Microsoft and this is the reason there’s no third-party app available here for the moment.

“They don’t care. They hate Microsoft and will do everything to kill you,” he said earlier this year, predicting that Specter would also be banned from the store very soon.
