In 1996, legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses was torn apart when Slash walked out. He and frontman Axl Rose had been the heart of the group, and Slash’s departure was seen by Axl as such a huge act of betrayal that he wouldn’t speak with him for many years after the fact.

Many fans consider Slash virtually responsible for the way Guns N’ Roses slipped off the map in the following years - even those who agree with the reasons behind his decision, which included Axl’s controlling ways, his lack of professionalism and his volatile temper.

The bottom line is that the Axl - Slash feud is one of the longest and most documented in showbiz, while also being one that no one thought would ever come to an end.

It has, according to Slash. He was recently in Sweden to perform with the band Graveyard, and he told Aftonbladet TV (video below) that he and his former bandmate, Axl, had actually buried the ax a while back. They’re probably not best buds who hang out over pizza and beers, reminiscing of the good ol’ times, but at least they’re friendly again.

Slash admits that the reconciliation was “way overdue” and he stresses that everything is “cool at this point” between them. It felt good to shake off the weight of all that negativity at long last, he adds.

While this is great news, it doesn’t mean that he is even remotely open to the idea of getting back on stage with Axl, as part of GNR.

“Oh, I couldn’t answer that one, though,” he says, when asked about a possible GNR reunion. “All right, let’s get off the subject, ’cause, you know, that’s an old one,” Slash adds, visibly annoyed.
