The update contains a fair share of bug fixes as well

Slack launched its beta application for Windows Phone devices in early September and promised to release updates as often as possible.

The latest update for Slack beta for Windows Phone brings lots of bugs fixes and improvements, but also some more than welcomed new features.

First of all, developers have finally added auto-complete for user mentions, channel mentions and emoji. In addition, they have added copy message text option to message context menu (shows dialog where you can directly select text).

In case you're wondering why it works that way, Slack developers have an explanation for that too, so here it goes. It looks like Windows Phone doesn't let devs directly add text to the clipboard.

Another reason would be the way messages are displayed with formatting, which makes direct text selection impossible. Apparently, the popup displays unformatted text which can be directly selected and copied.

As mentioned earlier, there are quite a lot of bug fixes implemented in this update too. For example, Slack confirmed it has fixed an issue where users were not prompted to join an existing team if they didn't have an account yet.

Some known issues still remain to be fixed

Another issue where activating two factor authentication made signing back in difficult has been fixed as well, along with an issue where new messages from close direct message might not be added to the channel list properly.

Some minor UI enhancements have also been implemented and a solution to an issue where attachments did not always display action links have been provided, too.

According to developers, some known issues still remain to be addressed in future updates, such as the fact that messages can't be sent while disconnected.

Also, expect better handling for queueing messages sent, but for now the send button should show as disabled when there isn't a connection available.

You can now download Slack Beta for Windows Phone for free via Windows Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up.
