The team behind Skype has just announced that they have added a new feature to their messaging application, which is called Moji. The new feature is available on all three major mobile platforms: Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.

Moji is a new way for users to chat with their friends on Skype via text message, though in a more colorful and funnier way.

It appears that thanks to the new feature, Skype users will be able to insert very short pre-generated clips from movies and TV shows right into text messages and conversations.

“Mojis are short clips from your favorite movies and TV shows that you can put directly into a Skype chat when words aren’t enough to capture for that ‘ah-hah,’ ‘haha,’ or ‘yikes’ moment,” explain developers in a blog post.

In order to send a new Moji, Skype users will only need to tap the emoticon button, then browse by movie or by expression, preview the Moji, and then simply drop it in the chat.

The new feature will be pushed in stages over the coming days

According to the developers, the database that users will browse for the right clip contains some of the funniest, craziest, and most iconic moments from some of the best TV shows and movies that have been released.

In order to bring Moji to Skype, Microsoft has partnered with companies like Universal Studios, Disney Muppets, BBC, and other studios around the world.

The first Moji clips that Skype users will be able to take advantage of are handpicked from fan favorites such as Despicable Me, Bridesmaids, Pitch Perfect, Jurassic Park, The Muppets, and many more.

You can now download Skype for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.

For iOS users, the application can be downloaded via App Store. It should work smoothly on all device running iOS 7 or later.

Last but not least, you can now download Skype for Windows Phone for free via Windows Store. It should be compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1 and up.
