We have already reported to you about the new Moji clips that Skype users can now add to their text messages while chatting with their friends. But this isn't the only major new feature the Android version of Skype got in today's update.

According to Skype, its new Android application comes with a number of fixes and additional improvements, such as the ability to see how many unread conversations you have without having to open the application.

With the latest version of Skype, users will only need to look at the application once it's launched and the number of unread conversations will now be displayed on the upper right side of the app's icon.

Keep in mind, though, that this new feature is only available on select smartphones manufactured by Samsung, HTC, Sony Mobile, and Xiaomi.

Furthermore, Skype 6.2 for Android brings a new media bar that should make it easier for users to express themselves in more than plain text.

Show your friends a map with your location

Skype users should notice when they open a conversation that developers have replaced the “+” with a new media bar. All the options that were included under that tab are now placed on the new media bar.

Last but not least, developers confirm they have decided to bring location sharing to Skype for Android, so users will now be able to tap the location icon on the media bar from any conversion and send a map that shows their friends where they are.

If you don't have the application yet, you can now download Skype for Android 6.2 for free. The app should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.

Keep in mind that in order to take advantage of the new features included in this update, you will need to accept an updated set of permissions.
