Microsoft has just announced a new version of Skype for Android is now rolling out in Google Play Store. It brings new visual changes along with some under-the-hood improvements and fixes.

First of all, Microsoft announced that the update would add a refreshed look, which should bring a more pleasant user experience.

“When it comes to product design and user experience, the smallest changes can make the biggest difference.

“Today’s Skype 5.6 for Android is a great example, bringing you a bunch of visual refreshes to make Skype even more beautiful to look at and even easier to use,” explains the Skype team in a blog post.

Skype 5.6 comes with an updated “Recent” tab, which should provide users will the option to see more chats at a glance. For example, when users have multiple chats going at the same time, with the new tab it will be easier to see more chats.

With the latest version of Skype, it will be much easier to catch up on more conversations, and users will be able to follow conversations more quickly.

Developers also announced they have made updates so users can easily see which of their friends are online, regardless of where they are in the application.

More visible text inside chats

Skype users will also notice that Microsoft adjusted the color of chat bubble to make the text pop more. This adds more clarity to the text in the chats, especially when users have group chats with lots of participants.

As mentioned by developers, Skype 5.6 for Android includes lots of fixes and improvements that are meant to make the application more stable.

If you don't have the application yet, you can now download Skype for Android 5.6 for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.
