On the last day of 2009, Stefan Lippers-Hollmann uploaded and released the latest version of the sidux Linux-based operating system (codename "Moros"). sidux 2009-04 ships with Linux kernel 2.6.32.2, KDE Software Compilation 4.3.4, and 3D support for ATI Radeon graphics cards. sidux is a full-featured Live CD based on Debian Sid, with a special focus on hard disk installations, a clean upgrade path within Sid and supplementary hardware and software support.

"For 'Μόρος,' development concentrated on updating the bootloader infrastructure for live- and installed system, but also took upstream changes like kernel 2.6.32 and KDE 4.3.4 and further KDE4 applications into account. On the installed system, grub2 now replaces the traditional grub-gfxboot bootloader, while the live system now employs isolinux and an improved gfxboot theme." – Stefan Lippers-Hollmann said in the official release announcement.

I use Sidux AMD64 and absolutely love it. My main comment is that Sidux is not for newbies. You have to be comfortable with the CLI. If you have used Ubuntu or Debian for a while and want a Debian based distro that is absolutely up to date the give Sidux a try.

You must at least skim the manual, the update procedure is not like Ubuntu. It requires a set of commands that need to be run outside of the GUI. Despite using the latest packages I have found it to be more stable than Kubuntu. I much prefer Sidux to Debian Squeeze or Sid, even though it is essentially Sid with a few themes and scripts with a custom kerenel. If you have run your system on Sid and trashed it one too many times then Sidux may be your answer.
