Today, December 12, 2016, Jens Georg, the developer of the Shotwell open-source image viewer, editor, and organizer software, published the second development version towards the major Shotwell 0.26 release.

That's right, we're talking about Shotwell 0.25.2, which appears to be a bugfix release fixing approximately 20 recorded issues that have been reported by public testers from the previous updates in the 0.25 unstable series. According to the release notes, there are also a handful of improvements, such as support for using the Application menu.

Among the things that have been fixed in Shotwell 0.25.2, we can mention the missing "About" action, the sort order, a critical error on startup, the initial sort order, hiding of the search toolbar, missing initialization of various states, setting of the initial action state, the scripts for Debian GNU/Linux, and a context menu issue on the import page.

Gtk.Revealer is now used for the bottom toolbar

The list of changes continues with support for the Gtk.Revealer widget for the bottom toolbar, removal of the deprecated Gtk.IconFactory widget, as well as improvements for the context-sensitive label of background, Undo and Redo menus, the rating filter menu, the filter actions, and the initial state of the search bar.

The missing keyboard shortcut for setting the background was added in Shotwell 0.25.2, and a copy/paste error in the publishing result has been resolved. There are also various Git improvements, and it looks like some of the dialogs were moved to the GtkTemplate widget, preparing for issues with valac master.

The Czech, Danish, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Polish, and Croatian language translations have been updated.
