It also addresses many issues from previous releases

Shotwell developer Jens Georg announced the immediate availability of the first point release for the Shotwell 0.25 unstable series of the open-source image viewer and organizer for GNU/Linux distributions.

Shotwell 0.25.1 is here one month after the Shotwell 0.25.0 release, and it looks like it's a bugfix update that removes the deprecated libsoup API (Application Programming Interface), many of the deprecated API calls for GTK+ 3.14 or lower versions, various of the worthless warnings generated by Vala, as well as GtkUIManager and Gtk*Action*.

The extra box around the WebKit authenticator view was also removed. Moreover, Tumblr support should work again in Shotwell 0.25.1, as the developer fixed a compilation error with newer versions of the Vala compiler. Piwigo support was improved as well, as the dialogs were updated and the category parsing simplified.

Shotwell should no longer crash under Wayland

As the Wayland adoption grows with each day that passes, it's imperative for application developers to make sure that their apps work well on the next-generation display server. As such, Shotwell should no longer crash when attempting to click on the tool window under Wayland.

Shotwell 0.25.1 brings small fixes for the Thumbnailer, addresses an issue with unique index on MD5 and Format, refactors the Plugins to use a common approach when loading panes from Glade, and fixes a bunch of bugs and regressions reported by users since Shotwell 0.25.0 or previous releases (check out the attached changelog for more details).

Last but not least, the Czech, German, Spanish, Latvian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Kazakh language translations have been updated. You can download the Shotwell 0.25.1 source archive right now from our website if you want to compile it yourself, or wait for the new version to land in the stable repositories of your favorite distro.
