The New Zealand post is even refusing packages

Samsung has prompted all Galaxy Note 7 owners to return their smartphones, in a massive operation to retrieve all units sold throughout the world. Customers can return their phones to the point of purchase or call Samsung to make such arrangements.

The Galaxy Note 7 poses a serious potential safety risk, which is why many shipping companies from all over the world have imposed strict conditions for transporting the smartphone. New Zealand Post has warned customers not to courier transport Note 7 smartphones back to Samsung.

Instead, Note 7 owners should return the smartphone to the retailer they purchased it from. The report by Stuff states that NZ Post, the operator of the main postal service in New Zealand has made special arrangements with retailers to package and label smartphones so that trained couriers can safely pick them up.

The smartphones will be transported by road, not air. Samsung is offering Galaxy Note 7 owners in New Zealand $100, together with cash or credit refund for the inconvenience of having to return their phones.

FedEx and UPS will ship the Note 7 only under strict conditions

In the UK, Royal Mail has already announced that it won’t ship the Galaxy Note 7 through its network for safety reasons. In the US, FedEx, UPS and the United States Post Service have imposed strict shipping conditions for the smartphone.

The three companies won’t be shipping packages containing the smartphone in their planes, but only in their trucks and under strict conditions. FedEx will accept used Note 7 devices, but only from mobile phone retail locations and in packaging that meets strict regulatory guidelines.

The company was most likely referring to fireproof packaging. Samsung has already started sending customers special fireproof boxes for returning the Galaxy Note 7, containing a pair of safety gloves and instructions for handling the device safely.
