Shia LaBeouf has been in trouble before, mostly because of his issues with alcohol addiction, but he seemed to have gotten that problem under control after the embarrassing June 2014 arrest, during a Broadway play. He might have relapsed, if reports from the German media cited by BuzzFeed are accurate.

Even worse, it seems that his drinking has turned him very violent, and he punched girlfriend Mia Goth in a fight that took place late Friday night in Berlin, Germany.

Shia and Mia fight, it gets physical

BuzzFeed cites several major German-language publications as confirming the fight, which reportedly took place indoors. However, it eventually spilled into the street, with Mia grabbing hold of Shia’s backpack and urging him not to leave, to come back to her.

Mia is in Berlin to shoot for a new movie and it is assumed that he accompanied her there to spend more time together.

By-standers had to break up the fight as Shia was threatening to get physically violent to his model / actress girlfriend, and some even agreed to take him to the airport, so he could board a plane back to the States.

On the way there, LaBeouf reportedly thanked them for their intervention, saying he would have surely “killed” Mia if they hadn’t intervened. One of his hands was injured, presumably from punching a wall during the argument.

The same media outlet says that Mia was seen the day after the fight with a black eye, which could mean that the fight did turn physical before it spilled into the street.

Reps for neither actor were not available for comment at the time news of the alleged fight broke in the international and US media.

Shia, Mia and a history of erratic behavior

Shia and Mia met on the set of the controversial “Nymphomaniac,” when she was only 19 years old. They spent Thanksgiving together for the first time in 2012, and by December, they had already made their public outing as a couple.

Like many couples (and not necessarily in showbiz), they had their ups and downs, which sometimes translated into short-time breaks they would take. There were reports of Shia’s increased alcohol consumption and erratic behavior, but never of violent behavior towards her.

In 2014, Shia stumbled drunk into a Broadway play and proceeded to smoke in the audience, interrupting the actors whenever he thought he had something that just had to be said. Police were eventually called because he would not leave, and he ended up in a Hannibal Lecter-style face mask, crying as he was being escorted out in handcuffs.

The mask, he would explain later, was deemed necessary because he wouldn’t stop spitting at the cops and had even tried to bite one.
