Shazam will help its users recognize songs faster

There are many good song recognition apps out there, but for many, Shazam remains the only app used for recognizing songs. Indeed, the app offers multiple features for recognizing apps playing in the background and is constantly adding new tools for its users.

Shazam has just added three app shortcuts for its users, according to Android Police. The latest Shazam update adds app shortcuts, thanks to support in Android Nougat for such a feature.

Aside from the main app shortcut, Shazam also added a Shazam Now shortcut which initiates a Shazam music search. Needless to say, this will be one of the most used shortcuts, considering that in some cases, until one opens the app and taps on the song recognition icon, the music playing in the background stops.

The second app shortcut is Auto Search, which can be used for turning Shazam’s auto-search feature on. The inconvenient factor with this feature is that, in order to turn the feature off, you would have to access the settings section within the app.

The last Shazam shortcut is Visual Shazam, which allows users to scan codes, supposedly found on products, magazines and billboards. Obviously, they’re not widespread so this won’t be a particularly popular shortcut among users. Codes aren’t actually new in the Shazam app, they were first announced in 2015, when Shazam partnered with retailers and companies from all over the world to provide customers with entertaining visual experiences through Shazam.

Shazam shortcuts can be arranged into folders on the screen or pulled out in separate entries. In order to set them, you’ll need a smartphone that runs Android 7.1 Nougat or use a launcher that supports them.

Last year, Shazam announced a lightweight version of its main app called Shazam Lite. The application has a size of just 1MB and was designed to use little data.
