Court documents filed in LA reveal actress Shannen Doherty has been diagnosed with breast cancer

Former “Beverly Hills 90210” star Shannen Doherty (aka Brenda Walsh) has breast cancer. This doesn’t come from the actress herself but is included in court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday, as part of an ongoing lawsuit between the star and her ex management firm.

Doherty is suing the firm saying that, had they paid her insurance premiums last year as she had instructed them to, she would have been diagnosed earlier. She’s looking at mastectomy and chemotherapy, so the cancer is pretty advanced.

Shannen Doherty has cancer and it’s probably advanced

Both Doherty and her husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, are taking action against Tanner Mainstain, which represented them until a while back, in 2 separate lawsuits.

Doherty says that her relationship with the management firm was suddenly and without cause terminated in February 2014. In November 2013, she had instructed them to pay her insurance premium for the policy she had as member of the Screen Actors Guild, covering the year 2014.

The payment never went through, so she was uninsured for the entire duration of the year, during which time she could have gotten a medical check and have the cancer diagnosed.

“Plaintiff was also informed that, had she been insured and able to visit her doctor, the cancer could potentially have been stopped, thus obviating the need for the future treatment (including mastectomy and chemotherapy) that Plaintiff will likely have to suffer through now,” her attorney says in the filing, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.

Doherty got stiffed by her manager

Learning that you have cancer is a terrible thing on its own, but finding out that you could have caught it earlier had it not been for someone else’s mistake makes it even worse.

As strange as it sounds, the management firm wronged Doherty in more ways than this. She accuses them of “breach of contract, fiduciary duty, conversion, negligence and more,” as per the report. They mishandled her money on purpose, lining their own pockets and then covering up by claiming they had wired various amounts to people she did not do business with.

The actress’ husband is making similar claims in his lawsuit, including how the firm stiffed him out of a property.

Both claim that the firm also failed to pay taxes in time, which cost them even more money in the long run, and overcharged their managing fees.

THR also got a statement from the firm, in which they stress they plan to fight Doherty in court on each and every one of the accusations she makes against them.
