As we’ve told you recently, Microsoft is working to release a new Windows Store for Windows 10 PCs in the upcoming Anniversary Update, and just like expected, the company’s also preparing a similar refresh for devices running Windows 10 Mobile.

A screenshot that has recently gotten leaked by @gus33000 via NPU shows this new store on Windows 10 Mobile in action in what seems to be an unreleased preview build of the operating system.

As you can see for yourselves by clicking the adjacent photo, Microsoft has decided to go for a different layout that seems to make a little bit more sense on mobile devices, putting more apps in the spotlights, as well as the most downloaded and popular items in the store.

You can now see the highlighted apps at the top of the store while also being allowed to quickly access top apps, top games, featured, and collections. The bottom of the store is reserved for “picks for you,” which are app recommendations offered based on your current downloads.

The mobile Anniversary Update

The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is scheduled to debut in the summer with many more improvements, and the store is getting particular attention from Microsoft this time. Some other tweaks are also very likely, including changes that would make it easier for users to manage their apps and make purchases in the store.

The Anniversary Update will only be available for devices running Windows 10 Mobile already, so in case you have one of those devices that didn’t even get the upgrade to this operating system, you have no other option than to stick with 10586 preview builds.

All those store improvements are very likely to arrive in an insider build in the coming weeks, but it remains to be seen if the next one is Microsoft’s choice to introduce them to users.
