Satellite Rush is a new roguelike shooter developed by Kimeric Labs, and its makers have gone to Kickstarter in order to get more funding for their project.

2D shooters are a dime a dozen on Linux OSes, and the genre is full of titles that never achieve their potential. There are also roguelike titles on Linux that have been pretty successful, and just because a developer says his game has procedurally generated levels, it doesn't make it a good game. On the other hand, after you play Satellite Rush, which is a 2D roguelike 2D action shooter with procedurally generated levels, you won't be able to put the controller back.

Satellite Rush is a very difficult game that resembles a little bit The Binding of Issac, but only because it's hard, and you won't get access to good weapons unless you're really lucky. Most of your attempts will end with your untimely death, usually accompanied by an explosion.

Satellite Rush is also coming to Linux

The reason why we're covering the Kickstarter campaign for Satellite Rush is because a Linux version is also planned. Moreover, the developers have decided to also make a demo for the game, which helps a lot if you want to know beforehand if the game works on your operating system. It seems to have really low system requirements, so it shouldn't be a problem.

"Satellite Rush is a sci-fi top-down shooter with pixel art graphics and Roguelike elements. Take control of an abducted office worker and blast through Satellite Moebius, an intergalactic space arena filled with vicious aliens, robots programmed to clean (or kill), and a (not always so cheery) audience. It is one part Super Smash TV, one part Binding of Isaac (Asimov?), four parts Douglas Adams, shaken - not stirred. Serve with a sci-fi imaginarium garnish," reads the Kickstarter project.

The game is expected to arrive in March 2016.
