14 DAY TRIAL // Just yesterday, we revealed that Samsung is working on the successor to last year’s W2016 clamshell, the W2017 codenamed Veyron. Samsung’s W2017 or Veyron was spotted in a benchmark test recently and it seems that the device was also subjected to another test on AnTuTu, according to TechUpdates.
Samsung is said to be releasing the W2017 solely in China and there’s no word at this point if it would reach other countries as well. Samsung Veyron will be the successor to last year’s W2016, which was a flip-phone with some powerful specs that made many believe that there’s still a future for the clamshell design of a smartphone.
The Geekbench test revealed that the smartphone could be coming with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM. In addition, it could feature a 4.2-inch Super AMOLED display and run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
These rumored specs surely make the smartphone attractive, but one must keep in mind that there’s a possibility for the final component to feature other types of specs.
Samsung Veyron could come with 64GB of internal storage
The AnTuTu benchmark confirms information found in the previous test and shows that the smartphone could have a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and come with 64GB of internal memory, enough to store various files and images. Moreover, rear camera capacity could reach 12MP, while the front camera could have 5MP.
The specs indicate that the smartphone will surely be a flagship in the category of flip-phones, but Samsung might limit its availability to China, considering that there’s limited appeal for such a device in other markets.
Nevertheless, the W2017 seems to have more powerful specs compared to the W2016, which came with a 3.9-inch AMOLED display with 1280 x 768 pixel resolution and featured a secondary screen. In addition, it ran an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, a 16MP rear camera, 3GB of RAM and a 2,000mAh battery.
