Samsung has just released a new Tizen-running smartphone called the Z2 in India today, but it seems that the South Korean is working on other upcoming phones, including a flip-phone nicknamed Veyron. The smartphone was recently spotted in a benchmark test.

Samsung's upcoming Veyron smartphone was spotted on Geekbench, according to Tech Updates. The smartphone has the code name SM-W2017 and seems to be the successor to last year's SM-W2016, released in China.

It seems that Samsung is trying to reinvent the flip-phone and incorporate powerful components in devices with such a design. The Veyron seems to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM.

In addition, it could come with a dual 4.2-inch HD Super AMOLED display and run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Samsung's device was imported to India from South Korea, which would mean that the phone is approaching its release date.

Samsung Veyron will be the successor to last year's W2016

Last year's model came with a 3.9-inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 768 pixel resolution. It had two displays, one that could be flipped and used even when the phone is closed. The smartphone ran an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor and ran Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Rear camera capacity reached 16MP with LED flash, OIS and a 5MP front-facing camera. It came with a 2,000mAh battery. The smartphone measured 120.4 x 61 x 15.1 mm and had a weight of 204 grams. It came with a glass and metal build and had 3GB of RAM. The smartphone was released last year in November in China.

As of this point, it's quite unclear when Samsung will release the successor to W2016 or if it will have a metal build and more RAM. But until the release date arrives, more details on the smartphone will surely be revealed.
