Samsung has just unveiled a new budget smartphone in its home country Korea, a device that carries some low-end specs, including 2GB of RAM and just 16GB of internal storage. The Galaxy Wide 2 is the successor to last year’s Galaxy Wide, according to a report.

The Galaxy Wide 2 comes with a 5.5-inch HD LCD display with 2.5D curved glass and a 13MP camera on the back with f/1.9 aperture. In the front, the phone has a 5MP camera for snapping selfies and conducting video calls.

Moreover, it runs a 1.6GHz 64-bit octa-core processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and just 16GB of internal storage, with the option to add 256GB more using a microSD card. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and features a 3,300mAh battery.

The Galaxy Wide 2 is available for $266 at SK Telecom

Its price reaches approximately $266 at Korean carrier SK Telecom, while the price tag reaches just $89 after discounts. The Galaxy Wide was the best-selling smartphone at SK Telecom last year, so it’s no surprise that Samsung launched a successor. The Galaxy Wide 2 is available in two color options, Silver and Black.

Samsung Galaxy Wide 2 carries code number SM-J727S, same as the Galaxy J7 (2017), but the design is quite different from recently leaked renders. Specifically, antenna lines on the back of the Galaxy Wide 2 and the phone’s overall design seem to resemble the Galaxy J7 Perx that Samsung recently launched at Sprint. Even the price is quite similar, and the specs are identical.

The Galaxy J7 (2017) is the base variant of the J7 and is expected to feature a different design compared to the Galaxy J7 Prime or Perx. In addition, it will be made available in more color options, but internal specs should stay roughly the same. Together with the Galaxy J7 (2017), the Galaxy J5 (2017) should make its debut soon, with lower specs compared to the Galaxy J7 or even the Galaxy Wide 2.
