Samsung on Wednesday unveiled a new edition of its recently launched Galaxy Note 8 series of Android-powered smartphones, the Galaxy Note 8 Enterprise Edition, targeted at business users.

Designed specifically for the enterprise market, including small and medium-sized businesses, Galaxy Note 8 Enterprise Edition comes only as an unlocked smartphone with enterprise-level customizations like an additional layer of security to make sure your sensitive files are kept safe and secure even when on the go, which is a must these days.

"Modern enterprises are dealing with a conflict when it comes to their mobile strategies—a push and pull between what they require of IT to keep organizations secure and productive, and what their employees have come to expect when using mobile devices," said Eric McCarty, Vice President, Mobile B2B Product Marketing, Samsung Electronics America.

The device offers enhanced security and business continuity

The biggest new feature of Galaxy Note 8 Enterprise Edition is traditional PC-class product lifecycle support services like enhanced security via monthly security updates for the next three years, and business continuity by allowing customers to purchase the same device model even after two years from its launch.

To help reduce downtime, as well as to simplify the complexity of smartphone deployments across big enterprises, Samsung implemented the Samsung Enterprise Firmware Over the Air (E-FOTA) and Samsung Knox Configure apps, which lets sysadmins securely and more easily deploy and configure custom mobile experiences from remote locations.

With the Samsung Enterprise Firmware Over the Air feature included in Galaxy Note8 Enterprise Edition, it's possible to comprehensively manage multiple smartphones by using scheduled updates, software version control, and a centralized operating system. The device runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, yet the technical specifications are the same as of the original Galaxy Note 8.
