After the resounding success with Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung is now expected to launch the successor to Galaxy Note 5. Rumors say that the device will be launched this summer for sure, but there are still some mysteries on the specs it will feature.

New information has surfaced, pointing to the fact that Samsung might be incorporating an Iris Scanner on the upcoming Galaxy Note 6. Samsung seems to have filed “Samsung Iris” and “Samsung Eyeprint” trademarks for registration in the European Union. The information appeared at GalaxyClub and it suggests that the company intends to feature an iris scanner on its upcoming flagship phone.

However, it remains to be determined if that device will be the Galaxy Note 6. Still, the latest rumors have it that the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 will most likely be unveiled in August this year.

According to previous leaks, the Galaxy Note 6 is expected to come with a 5.77-inch screen, supporting a resolution of up to 1440 x 2560 pixels. It should also come with a powerful 4,200 mAh battery that hopefully provides enough juice for keeping the phone on for 48 hours.

Samsung might launch three variants of the Galaxy Note 6

Additionally, it could have 256GB internal memory and 6GB of RAM, much more than the smartphones in the Galaxy S7 series, which only came with 4GB of RAM. Moreover, it could incorporate a Snapdragon 823 chipset and IP68 certification for protection against water and dust.

In fact, it seems that IP68 has become the norm nowadays since the Galaxy S7 series also received the same certification. Rear camera capabilities could reach 12MP on the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 and 5MP in the front.

Users should expect to see USB Type-C ports on the Galaxy Note 6 and Samsung might be launching three variants of the phone, two with similar specifications, the Note 6 and Note 6 Edge, while the third might be called Note 6 Lite.
