Rumors of the Z2 smartphone that runs Tizen OS surfaced last year, and they got us all excited as it meant that Samsung was planning to debut another handset working on the said operating system, besides the Z1. Samsung's Z2 has been leaking in various images in the past year, and it seems that a release date has finally been revealed.

Phonehorn reports that Samsung could announce the upcoming Z2 during the Galaxy Note 7 unveiling, scheduled for August 11 in India. The two smartphones will also be accompanied by the Galaxy A9 Pro, which will be presented during the same event.

The pricing for the Z2 has also been mentioned, with the smartphone said to cost just $68. Also worth knowing is that it will be available in two colors, namely black and white. The India event would make sense, considering that, just a few days ago, the handset leaked in multiple images revealing that it had some pre-loaded Indian applications like Jabong, Indiatimes, and OLX.

However, the device that leaked in images came in a gold color variant, which means that Samsung might make it available in this color later on.

Samsung Z2 could come with 4G LTE support

Moreover, the design of the phone justifies the rumored $68 price tag, since the device isn't exactly slim, and the camera bump on the back is quite visible. Details on the specs are unclear at this point, but considering the price tag, they won't be spectacular.

Nevertheless, the Z2 will surely be more powerful than its predecessor, the Z1, but it won't be as powerful as the Z3. Samsung Z2 is rumored to come with a 4-inch AMOLED display and 1GB of RAM, alongside support for 4G LTE and a 32-bit quad-core CPU and a 2,000mAh battery.

Word is that the phone will come with Samsung's My Money Transfer app for transferring money between multiple banks. S Bike mode will also be pre-loaded on the handset, as will be other Tizen and Samsung applications.
