Samsung is surely working on developing the new Galaxy S8 flagship, especially since recent reports have indicated that the company intends to launch mass production in March and produce 10 million units of this upcoming smartphone.

A new report citing industry insiders in South Korea claims that the Galaxy S8 could be released on April 18. This would mean that Samsung intends to announce the new device in late March or early April; the unveil date is unknown.

Samsung was expected to announce the new smartphone during the Mobile World Congress 2017 in February, but some recent reports have indicated that the device will actually see the light of day during a separate event to be held in New York City.

The Galaxy S8 could come with an external S Pen accessory

The April 18 release date isn’t officially confirmed, so take this information with a grain of salt, as much can change until then. Recent rumors have also revealed that Samsung might launch a flat variant of the Galaxy S8 after all, but we do find that rather unlikely considering that all other reports have indicated towards two phones with dual-edge curved displays.

The Galaxy S8 could have a 5.7-inch screen, while the Galaxy S8 Plus might be larger at 6 inches. The smartphones are said to come with a feature similar to Window’s Continuum, which would allow them to connect to a monitor and offer full-fledged desktop features. As such, the device might run the latest Snapdragon 835 SoC from Qualcomm and pack 8GB of RAM, but that remains to be seen.

The Galaxy S8 is also rumored to come with an external S Pen accessory which would bring all the functionality from the Galaxy Note 7. The Galaxy S8 might also come with wireless in-ear headphones and a fingerprint scanner on the back, considering that Samsung will ditch the physical home button in the front.
