Samsung announced the global recall of its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7, two weeks ago. The company has now officially revealed the date when safe Galaxy Note 7 will arrive to the US, September 21. Replacement units are expected to arrive in Europe on September 19 and to Australia on September 21.

The announcement was officially made via a video that Samsung posted on its website. Tim Baxter, President of Samsung Electronics America, has stated that 130,000 Galaxy Note 7 units have been exchanged and that replacements will arrive in the US on September 21.

In the 2-minute video, he apologized for the recall and mentioned that the new units are absolutely safe as Samsung has identified and solved the battery issue on initial Galaxy Note 7 smartphones. He also stressed that Note 7 owners should power off their devices and return them, so that other incidents are avoided.

Note 7 owners have many options in the exchange program

Customers from the US have the option to replace their existing Galaxy Note 7 units with a new one or exchange them for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge and get a refund of the price difference. They can also request a full refund for their Galaxy Note 7 units.

Galaxy Note 7 owners will also get a $25 gift card, in-store credit, in-store accessory credit or bill credit from select carriers or retail outlets. Safe Galaxy Note 7 smartphones could come with a green battery icon.

The video also shows Samsung America's COO issuing an official apology on behalf of the whole company to users who have been personally affected by the faulty battery in the Galaxy Note 7. Indeed, there have been multiple reports of Galaxy Note 7 smartphones catching fire and causing damages to houses, vehicles and even owners.
