South Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung is expected to launch the next generation of Samsung Galaxy J3 mid-range smartphones this summer, but there has been no information on the launch date, until now, that is. Galaxy Club has reported that the new device will be launched on June 18 and has offered official leaked images of the new Galaxy J3.

The Galaxy J3 is expected to see the light of day in China on June 18, but even the phone’s name is unclear. The upcoming handset has recently appeared on TENAA carrying the code number SM-J3119 and will apparently be available in two colors, gold and gray.

Still, recent rumors suggest that the upcoming Galaxy J3 will have a 1.2GHz quad-core SoC and run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

It’s unclear why Samsung would decide to implement such an early version of Android OS, considering that Marshmallow 6.0.1 hit the market last year and Android N is expected this summer.

The next Samsung Galaxy J3 could run Android Lollipop

The next generation of Galaxy J3 should come with a 5.1-inch AMOLED display, possibly with a 1080pFull HD resolution, and an 8MP rear camera. Images reveal that the phone’s body is made of old-fashioned plastic materials without an antenna band, and the back cover is removable.

The TENNA listing also shows that the phone will come in two variants, with the only difference between the two models being the pixel resolution. It should have 2GB of RAM with 16GB storage capacity. Add to that a 5MP front selfie snapper and 2,600mAh battery.

Judging by rumored specs, the 2017 version of the Galaxy J3 should be an improvement over the standard Galaxy J3, seeing as it could come with more RAM and a more powerful processor. However, that remains to be seen, since the launch date June 18 isn’t that far.
