Samsung is expected to hold its Unpacked event on March 29 in New York City and London, during which the company will announce its next flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and S8+. A recent report by The Investor claims that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ will go on pre-order on April 10.

Samsung is expected to make the Galaxy S8 and S8+ available for purchase worldwide on April 21, after the pre-order session ends. Both phones are expected to be made available for pre-order on the same day, April 10.

The Galaxy S8 should be more popular than the larger Galaxy S8+, considering that it has a smaller display of 5.2 inches, compared to 6.2 inches on the bigger model. It would be interesting to see which variant sells out first.

Bixby virtual assistant and iris scanner

Recent reports have said that Samsung already started mass producing an initial batch of more than 10 million Galaxy S8 and S8+ units, signaling the fact that the company is confident it will record high sales with its new flagship.

Samsung has made major design changes with the Galaxy S8, removing the physical home button in the front, expanding display size, reducing the size of bezels, and relocating the fingerprint scanner to the back panel, next to the rear camera.

The two phones are said to run the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC or Exynos 8895, depending on the market. They will feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, with the option to expand using a microSD card. Front camera capacity could reach 8MP, while the rear camera could have 12MP.

The phones are said to come with an iris scanner and Samsung’s own virtual assistant Bixby, which received a dedicated physical button. Galaxy S8 and S8+ will run Android 7.0 Nougat and will be the first to come with AKG earphones in the box.
