Samsung has discontinued the production of the Galaxy Note 7 and the company is working on retrieving all units that it sold to customers. In addition, Samsung will be relying heavily on the upcoming Galaxy S8 in order to retrieve some of the trust that consumers lost in the brand’s products.

However, for the Galaxy S8 to be a success, Samsung needs to convince people that its phones no longer pose safety risks and that it significantly improved its quality assurance procedures.

In a statement, Samsung representatives said that “We will concentrate our capabilities on providing safe products by implementing an overall reorganization of internal product quality monitoring processes to boost product safety,” according to Korea Herald.

Samsung will restructure its quality control processes

The company intends to restructure its quality control processes in order to avoid similar situations in the future. The Samsung official has also mentioned that the company doesn’t exactly have a detailed plan on how to reorganize the process and has pledged to continue in the direction it is heading, although no more details were provided.

Samsung will most likely review its product developments, quality control and component supply channels thoroughly. For many years now, the South Korean company has been unveiling premium smartphones in the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series once every six months, which means tight deadlines for its departments.

Samsung and the CPSC have officially announced the second recall of the Galaxy Note 7, but the flaw that caused replacement batteries to overheat is still unknown. Investigations are currently conducted by Samsung, the CPSC and South Korean officials, but it’s unsure when the results will be presented.

The company is facing billions of dollars in financial loss from the discontinuation of the Galaxy Note 7, while it boosted production of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, in an attempt to minimize losses and maximize sales of the two smartphones. Samsung might also release a Blue Coral variant of the S7 edge, since a picture of the case found its way online a few days ago.
