3D emoji coming to the Samsung Galaxy S9

We’re only a few days away from the moment Samsung will finally take the wraps off the new Galaxy S9, and new information emerges through unofficial channels, including tidbits that could make Apple fanboys smile.

As it turns out, Samsung wants to copy Apple’s Animoji feature available exclusively on the iPhone X with 3D emoji that would be powered by the front-facing camera.

While it’s not exactly clear how this feature is going to work since Samsung is believed to be relying only on the selfie camera, Apple’s more complex system uses the Face ID system to accurately reproduce face gestures.

Apps using the front-facing cameras and creating 3D emoticons have been available for a while, but it’s believed Samsung wants to offer a more advanced version.

Stereo speakers finally coming to the Galaxy series

Korean site ETNews says the Galaxy S9 will also come with stereo speakers, and this is undoubtedly a welcome improvement. Samsung’s models have until now lacked such functionality at a time when Apple offered stereo speakers on its iPhones already.

Judging from Samsung’s existing partnerships, there’s a good chance the stereo speakers coming with the Galaxy S9 will feature Dolby Surround and tweaks implemented by AKG – the Galaxy S8 launched with headphones also optimized by AKG, and the collaboration is expected to continue with the S9.

Furthermore, it looks like the new model looks pretty similar to its predecessor, though testers who have already tried out the device said it features slightly redesigned corners and the device is a little thinner. It appears that Samsung might ship a clear plastic case with the Galaxy S9 similar to the one offered with the Note 8 in some markets.

When it comes to pricing, the S9 won’t be as expensive as an iPhone X, but the Plus version is expected to hit the shelves with a price of more than $900 in Korea.
