When Google announced Android M at its I/O 2015 conference in late May, the search giant failed to reveal what the letter “M” stands for. Still, the search giant’s pattern of naming its mobile OS versions after sweet delights will seemingly continue this year.

Google is expected to make light in this situation soon, but while we wait on that, Samsung has also posted a teaser in relation to Android M. After Android 5.0 Lollipop was rolled out into the wild, Samsung wasn’t exactly one of the first manufacturers to pick up the update for its devices, as Motorola and LG beat it to the punch.

But with Android M, Samsung probably plans to take a swifter approach. The Korean tech giant has already posted a lengthy infographic detailing all the new features Samsung fans can expect to see onboard their devices once Android M reaches them.

Naturally Samsung will be embedding all the changes we’re going to talk about in a few into its TouchWiz interface, which is a bit different than what the stock Android experience will offer. But that’s a different story.

Here is what you can expect from Android M on Samsung devices

The first aspect Sammy details is App Permissions. Android M will allow users to choose which functions they want to allow an app access to. So for instance, if you don’t want WhatsApp accessing your location, you can just disable the location function in the apps permissions in Android M.

Next up, we find the Track Memory feature, which lets you find out which of your phone’s app is using the most memory. With Android M, you get a new Memory tab which lets you see how much memory each app is taking up on your device and how often they are running.

Android M brings support for quick fingerprint access, so from now you’ll be able to log in to platforms such as Google Play Store without typing the password in. Which will come pretty in-handy.

With Android M, the system is able to back up all your app user data and setting onto Google Drive, so there’s no risk of losing important information in case the phone malfunctions.

Google has built into Android M tools which allow it to make more efficient use of the device’s battery. Features like Doze will be able to recognize when the phone hasn’t been used in a long time, in order to reduce background process and minimize consumption.

So as you can see Android M is poised to bring to the table some very exciting features for Samsung devices.
