Samsung might be prepping a middle-range tablet

Last month, a pretty odd rumor made its way online. We were told that Samsung was working on a ginormous tablet featuring an 18.4-inch display. And recently, Samsung released the Galaxy Tab S2 AMOLED tablet bunch quietly, without making any fuss around it.

Yes, the tablets were slimmer and lighter, but they failed to really spark the interest of users because they didn’t bring anything special to the table, compared to their predecessors. Well, it seems that Samsung is looking to revitalize its tablet portfolio by putting out this atypical model.

This week, the Korean tech giant was present at the IFA 2015 tradeshow in Berlin where it talked about several matters, including the Internet of Things.

As Sam Mobile reports, at the end of the presentation, the company teased the audience with a mysterious tablet called the Galaxy View. By the looks of it, we’re dealing with a pretty large tablet, so could it be possible that this is the 18.4-incher?

Samsung Galaxy View could be the company's largest tablet to date

Details about this massive tablet are virtually unknown, but one aspect is quite obvious when looking at the teaser images. The Galaxy View tablet will come with a built-in kickstand. Which makes sense.

Back when we tested the Galaxy Note PRO 12.2, we found it difficult to use the slate without an additional kickstand. Well, if the Galaxy View indeed comes with an 18.4-inch display, propping the device on a surface will be of uttermost importance.

At some point, we were told that the possible 18.4-inch slob might arrive with a TFT LCD display and not a Super AMOLED one with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, which is a bit disappointing.

The chipset in charge of running things on board was said to be the Exynos 7580 clocked at 1.6GHz and working in combination with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card slot). So in all possibility, the Galaxy View is not a premium, drool-worthy tablet.

While we wait for Samsung to make the Galaxy View official, we’re taking the opportunity to remind you that Alcatel has just rolled out a new 17.3-inch Android tablet dubbed OneTouch Xess with middle-range specifications, which the company says could be a great kitchen companion.
