14 DAY TRIAL // Great news for Samsung fans who are anxious to get their hands on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 edge flagships, as the South Korean company has already started testing the smartphones.
In fact, we believe the testing process began last year, but this is the first time we have information that could confirm it. The folks over at TechTastic have uncovered a few interesting details about the upcoming flagships.
First of all, the Galaxy S8 is listed on Samsung's user agent profile as SM-G950U, while the Galaxy S8 egde is known as SM-G955U. Both devices are running the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, which is kind of surprising since Google has already released Android 7.1.1.
The UAProf documents don't reveal anything else about the Galaxy S8/S8 edge, so we're left with the information we got from the previous reports.
However, because Samsung has decided not to unveil its flagship at MWC 2017, there's plenty of time to learn more about the phone.
We reported earlier today that Samsung is now expected to introduce the Galaxy S8 at a dedicated event on March 29.
The smartphone will benefit from a record-breaking marketing campaign. It's also worth mentioning that the press conference will take place in multiple locations in Europe and the United States, at the same time.
The global recall of the Galaxy Note 7, as well as the investigations following the removal of the phone from the market, postponed the Galaxy S8 announcement for about a month.
Samsung usually introduces its new Galaxy S flagships in late February or early March, at Mobile World Congress tech exhibition. As mentioned earlier, it won't happen this year, but starting 2018, Samsung might come back to its launch pattern.
