The phone caught fire while the boy was playing games

Here we go again. As Samsung is preparing to take the wraps off the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 and the brand-new Galaxy Note 8, reports of exploding smartphones start making the headlines once again, this time from Pakistan.

Naureen Ahsan described how a Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) exploded in the hands of her four-year-old nephew while he was playing games just next to her daughter.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt, as the woman had enough time to throw the smartphone to the ground before causing any injuries. But it goes without saying that the whole thing was terrifying, especially for the two kids who were playing games.

“Today my daughter’s mobile Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) blasted due to may be over heating or lagging due to games..we are unable to share this picture with samsung’s page. My 4 year nephew was playing ‘my talking tom’ game in it when it got over heated and had a blast. Allhumdulliah he is safe. And my daughter too…but this incident was terrifying for all of us,” the woman was quoted as saying.

Another Samsung J7 exploded last year

In the end, the woman provided an advice that makes sense to all women, not only because of exploding batteries, but also because children aren’t supposed to play on smartphones at such a young age anyway. Especially if they’re Samsung phones, that is.

“Keep your children away from mobiles and stay safe everyone :)”.

The more worrying thing is that this is reportedly the second incident involving a Samsung Galaxy J smartphone, as another unit exploded in November last year when, shockingly, another four-year-old was playing games on the device. At that point, the boy managed to throw away the bomb just after it started emitting smoke, so once again no injuries were experienced.

As always, Samsung has not provided any statement on this exploding smartphone, and the chances are that we won’t be getting anything else than the typical “we’re investigating.” In the meantime, just be safe out there and never leave phones unattended, especially when charging.
