Samsung informed Galaxy S8/S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 users over the weekend about the long-anticipated Android 8 Oreo software update, saying that it's finally coming withing the next three weeks for all unlocked devices.

While many Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 owners on the Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon mobile networks in the United States and other parts of the world have already received the Android 8.0 Oreo software update, customers that bought a carrier-unlocked device have to wait a little longer for Google's latest Android Oreo operating system.

"We understand that many of you have Unlocked Galaxy S8/+ and Note 8 devices and may be wondering why those with Carrier models are seeing the updates first. The reason for this is that Unlocked devices must go through more rigorous testing than Carrier-specific devices because we need to make sure there is proper network functionality across ALL supported networks," said Samsung.

Android Oreo is coming in the next 2-3 weeks to unlocked Galaxy S8, Note 8

According to Samsung, the Android 8.0 Oreo software update is coming in about three weeks from the moment of publishing to all unlocked Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 smartphones. The rollout is expected to take a few days or even weeks throughout the entire world, but you can now rest assured that you'll finally get that Android Oreo update on your Galaxy device this April.

However, Samsung said that it could not guarantee an exact release date for its Android Oreo rollout to unlocked Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 devices because the software update is currently pending final testing. Once Samsung gives green light to the Android Oreo update for eligible unlocked devices, we'll update this article to let you guys know that it's out, so you can finally update your smartphones.
