The Samsung Galaxy A8 will make a debut soon

Samsung is rolling out new series of smartphones at the speed of light. You might remember that, back in March, the device maker trademarked the Galaxy A6, A8 and A9 names. Then, the Galaxy A8 popped up online with specs in tow.

The handset has also been spotted going through the FCC, but today we get to see the real device guest-starring in a walkthrough video showing users what the phone is all about (as seen at NowhereElse).

What’s probably going to interest customers the most is the fact that the Galaxy A8 is probably the Korean company’s slimmest smartphone to date. The handset measures 158 x 76.77 x 5.95 mm / 6.22 x 3.0 x 0.23 inches, which makes it the first Samsung smartphone to boasts a profile thinner than 6 mm / 023 inches.

At a glance, the A8 looks pretty reminiscent of the Galaxy S6, but luckily, the phone will be sold for a lot less. Naturally, you shouldn’t expect the same high-end specs Samsung’s current flagship takes advantage of, but even so, the A8 seems to be a pretty worthy model.

The device seems to sport a metal frame (like the Samsung Galaxy Alpha) and should arrive with a 5.7-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, an octa-core core Snapdragon 615 chipset in combination with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card, something that the Galaxy S6 doesn’t offer).

The handset has also been confirmed to pack a 16MP photo snapper on the back and a secondary 5MP camera up in front. We also know it will be powered by a 3,050 mAh battery and will offer LTE support. Interestingly enough, the battery capacity is bigger than the 3,000 mAh one rumored to juice up the upcoming Galaxy S6 (edge) Plus.

Since the Android 5.1 Lollipop-powered Galaxy A8 was already seen passing through the FCC, we can be quite sure that Samsung plans to market the device in China, as well as in the US.

We’re still expecting to hear about the Galaxy A8’s pricing scheme, but hopefully the device maker will keep things at a decent level. No word on the possible release date either.
