Alleged Galaxy Book device running Windows 10 coming

Samsung is believed to be working on a new Windows 10 device called Galaxy Book which, judging from its name, might be nothing more than a rival to Microsoft’s very own Surface Book.

While this information is not confirmed just yet, what we know for sure is that the Samsung Galaxy Book will come with a touchscreen, and according to a new report, it will support the S Pen.

Available on the company’s Galaxy Note smartphone series (including on the retired Note 7 model that experienced battery issues), the S Pen is more or less Samsung’s own version of the Surface Pen, a stylus that makes drawing and writing on a touchscreen more convenient.

The S Pen could also support Air Command, a feature also available on Galaxy Note smartphones which is automatically activated when bringing the tip of the stylus close to the display. Users are then provided with a menu to choose from several tools, including quick access to selection options or apps running on the device.

Smart Dimming to be offered as well

While an S Pen is very likely to be offered, not the same thing can be said about an integrated holder, with the aforementioned source claiming that Samsung could go once again for an approach similar to the Note smartphone and activate Air Command whenever the user removes the pen from the holder.

Some other features available on smartphones could make their way to the new Galaxy Book as well, including Smart Dimming, an option that keeps the screen turned on as long as the user keeps looking at the display.

For the moment, however, it’s just better to take these details with a pinch of salt, even though they do make sense for a Samsung Windows 10 device. On the other hand, keep in mind that we still don’t know whether Samsung wants to build just a regular tablet or a 2-in-1 device similar to Microsoft’s Surface, but regardless of the form factor, it’ll be a neat addition to the Windows 10 device lineup.
