14 DAY TRIAL // The long-anticipated Bixby intelligent personal assistant developed by Samsung for its flagship Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ devices is finally here in an English version, rolling out to users in the United States.
After a small delay, which was caused by the fact that the Korean tech giant did not have enough data to release English-speaking voice capabilities to Galaxy S8/S8+ devices, Bixby is now rolling out to all users in the U.S., and it's available as we speak as an update that users can install on their mobile phones running the official Android operating system with which they came preinstalled by Samsung.
"There are over 10,000 functions on our smartphones, but each day, people may use less than five percent of them. The features on your phone are only useful if you know how to find them," says Injong Rhee, Executive Vice President, Samsung Electronics. "Our goal with Bixby is to make it easier to use our phones, creating the best possible user experience for our customers. That’s why we created Bixby – an intuitive new way to do more things with your phone."
Bixby lets Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ owners do things with voice commands
Bixby was previously available in Korean, but it now enables English-speaking Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners to do all sort of things on their Android-powered smarthphones with a combination of voice commands and touch. For example, they can select apps that are installed on the device, services or settings, get weather updates, as well as to find any kind of information they need.
Bixby is also capable of remembering things, such as where you parked your car or to pick up certain items when at the grocery store, based on location services, if they're enabled on the device. Samsung deeply integrated its intelligent personal assistent into the phone's operating system, so it's not just an app running on top of Android, which means that you'll get to taste premium voice capabilities on your Galaxy S8 and S8+.
